Natural Weight Loss Plans

April 13, 2008

Natural weight loss means lowering your daily calorific intake while increasing the amount of calories you burn through exercise; recommendations such as this are generally ignored. You would think it would immediately put all those specialist diet companies and the whole industry out of business but that is not the case; with the number of overweight American citizens increasing, this advice obviously doesn’t work. There are many reasons why you would want to lose weight once you have put it on, but what reason is strong enough to actually encourage you to do it, good health or looks?

What most people do not realize is keeping at the right weight is much, much easier than losing it. Subconsciously we all know that if we do not maintain a healthy food program for ourselves, we will start to add extra pounds.

For some reason even when dieters who have become used to, and enjoy, a low calorie diet, they eventually drift back to old habits and start piling the pounds back on again. The simple fact is this; the longer you ignore natural weight loss programs and stay overweight, the more likely you are to have health problems.

The problem is that weight gain puts a strain on the body’s ability to fight illness and many of today’s health issues are primarily affecting overweight individuals. The basics of eating correctly whilst maintaining a healthy weight is not all that complicated, in fact most people know pretty well what is best and that is losing weight naturally.

Some people worry about what foods they will eat on a natural weight loss program but it is just a case of having a combination of, protein, carbohydrate and fiber. A meal such as this would be something like a baked potato (complex carbohydrate), the fiber is vegetables and protein is a lean cut of meat.

Dietitians also say that the body has a capacity to retain dietary fat more than calories for regular foods so weight gain is more likely. Manufacturers have realized that there is a huge market for low-fat or even fat-free products but the propensity and popularity of these foods are not lowering the average weight of the nation.

The weight a person puts on isn’t always as a result of high fat foods, although they obviously do not help, but a result of too many calories turning into body fat. The term fat-free can be a trap if you start to believe that you can eat any amount of fat-free food when it is far better to respond to hunger with healthy snacks.

Schools of thought differ on this subject but many nutritionists agree that eating smaller meals with a snack every 3 to four hours or between meals could be beneficial providing main meals are not missed. When combined with regular exercise, this natural weight loss plan offers a way to lose unwanted pounds in the long run.
