Most health care professionals will tell you that in order to lose weight and keep it off it should be done gradually over a period of time. The problem with this is that while you may lose weight quickly you cannot keep this practice up for very long without feeling the negative effects of it as well.

One reason that not eating is such a dangerous road to rapid weight loss is obvious. Our bodies need food to sustain them. Without this necessity we become weak and over prolonged periods of time this leads to various health problems was well. One problem is that after the body has been denied food for a period of time it is shocked when a person resumes eating. This also results in the lost weigh returning and often much more as well. Other problems which can occur from not eating include the following:

In order to remain healthy we must look for healthy and safe methods even if these methods do not lead to rapid weight loss. One thing to remember is that nothing worth having comes easily. Hard work and determination are the key ingredients to successful weight loss even if it does take time to achieve.
